MENDHAR, June 26: An Army deserter escaped from the custody of Army after he was handed over to them by the local police last evening.
A police spokesman said that one Aurengzeb, son of Mohd Afreen, resident of Kalaban in Mendhar who was serving in 22 RR Guards, went missing from the unit few days back. The Army declared him as deserter and intimated Mendhar police to arrest him and hand over to the unit. The police arrested him late last evening and handed over to 143 Arty Rgmt for further custody to the RR unit. The accused jawan however, broken a window of the room and allegedly escaped from the Army custody. The army and police was searching for the army deserter who was still evading arrest.
