SRINAGAR, Feb 22: Rashtriya Rifles in Rafiabad today distributed blankets among the needy families of the area.
The activity commenced in the morning with Army distributing blankets to the children in Madarssa Saba-Tul-Kuran, Watergam wherein 26 children are residing and studying Kuran.
“These children are on the right path in life but staying in challenging conditions, this small gesture by the Army is welcome,” said Maulvi Javed Ah Dar, Manager of the establishment.
The cavalcade then moved to the needy families of Hamam, Markut, Duniwar and Dazna who have faced the worst weather in Rafiabad, with 2-3 feet of snow still persistent in the area.  50-60 blankets were distributed by Army in each village.
“Our families have faced the worst weather, we are thankful to the Army for remembering us during this time,” said Saida Begum, 65, resident of Hamam.
“Army has always cared for us, our children, parents and cattle were suffering from illness due to bad weather a few months back and they organized a medical-cum-veterinary camp in our village on our request and took care of us.  They have come to our rescue again,” said Karamdin Gujjar, Numberdar of Duniwar.
