Srinagar, Feb 15: Army today said it organized a function at Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation orphanage here in Jawahar Nagar area and distributed basic amenities among the orphans.
A defence spokesman said Jawahar Nagar area was one of the worst flood hit areas in September 2014. “Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation Trust, being in low lying area was submerged in the flood water for more than 20 days and was short of basic amenities which were catered by Army in previous year under Project Sadhbhawana,” he said.
“This year also the members of the Trust approached Army for support to the students and accordingly the essential amenities were procured and distributed in the function which was attended by senior Army officers and civil administration,” the spokesman said.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, the general secretary of Yateem Foundation appreciated the efforts of Army and stated that this holistic approach towards the needy students will facilitate them in their overall development and growth.
