Army eager to settle all rental claims in Valley: Soz

JAMMU, Dec 21: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has claimed that Army is keen to settle all the pending rental related cases in Kashmir valley.
In a press statement here Prof Soz said that besides writing to Union Defence Minister  A K Antony he had raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha regarding non-payment of  rent by Army in Anantnag and many other areas of  Kashmir, during recently concluded session.
The Defence Minister in a reply has assured  that Army would settle all the remaining cases of rent as early as possible. He has also said that whenever, there is a delay it is due to procedural factors. He also explained the latest situation in respect of non-payment of  rent for lands under the use of Army in Kashmir.  He has disclosed that in Anantnag and other arears of Kashmir region, rents have been settled in respect of 719 cases. There are 125 pending cases of rentals for settlement. Mr Antony has said that concerned agency has taken up the matter with the  State Government for early settlement of pending cases.
