SRINAGAR, Jan 11: In an endeavor to empower the Kashmiri youth, Army today inaugurated a Skill Training Centre at sector 10 Headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Haiderbegh in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District.
An Army spokesperson said the state of the art equipped Public-private venture was inaugurated by Major General A K Singh, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Kilo Force. It is coordinated between Sector 10 and M/s Orion Edutech Pvt Ltd, Kolkata and will impart highly skilled training under National Skill Development Centre (NSDC).
“Chinar Skill Training Centre prior to its formal inauguration had already employed 12 local youth from the area as staff/ trainer under NSDC for the training. These selected youth were provided two weeks of specialized training in Budgam District,” he said
“In the initial phase, the centre will run courses in Food Processing and Information Technology. Food processing course qualified youth will be skilled in food preservation, canning and juice storage of seasonal fruits whereas Information Technology course will provide opportunities in Information Technology sector,” he added
While speaking on the occasion, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Kilo Force lauded the efforts of sector 10 RR and 29 RR Battalion for realizing such unique initiative for the larger betterment of the society to improve socio-economic status.
He also said that Army is genuinely striving to provide opportunities for youth and enabling them to keep pace with the development. He appealed the youth to come forward to make the best use of this maiden opportunity and make themselves eligible for gainful employment schemes and earn sustainable livelihood.
