Army establishes VTC for women

BANDIPORA, Dec 2: In order to meet the long lasting demand of civil population, especially the women folk of the area, the local Army unit at Paribal Camp under Chinar Corps has taken an initiative by establishing a Vocational Training Center (VTC) here at village Malangam, under the aegis of Operation Sadhbhavana.
The centre, which was inaugurated on December 1, will train a batch of 30 local women in Sewing and Stitching for a period of four months. The training will enable the candidates to establish their own independent units, earn respectable livelihood and contribute to the family income.
The inaugural programme was organized at Community Centre, Malangam and the programme was presided over by Sector Commander, Brigadier Vikram Nagpal.
In addition, Kazi Shafat Ahmed, Nodal Officer, Department of Handicrafts, District Bandipora, Abdul Rashid, Block Development Officer, Bandipora, Ghulam Mohd Mir, Tehsildar and Mahabali Chauhan, local Sarpanch, attended the inaugural ceremony.
