UDHAMPUR, Oct 17: An Army trekking expedition to Padam was flagged off today by Lt Gen SK Patyal, General Officer Commanding 14 Corps.
The ‘Mercury Streak’ expedition has been organized by Northern Command Signals which is based at Udhampur, to commemorate 15th Reunion of Corps of Signals of Indian Army.
Trekking team consists of 11 members from various Signal units deployed in the Northern command zone is starting the journey from Photokser near Lamayuru. The team would be covering a distance of 96 km over the Singe La at 16700 feet and Hanumil Pass and 16200 feet to reach Padam in 10 days.
The trek is one of the part of the activities which Corps of Signals has planned for the occasion with another trek planned in the month of January next year over Chadar route.
