JAMMU, Nov 7:
An infiltration attempt by a group of militants was today foiled by Army along Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu district even as one jawan was injured in the incident.
A group of terrorists taking advantage of bad weather conditions tried to infiltrate into Indian side of LoC in Pallanwala forward area of Jammu district today, a Defence spokesman said.
Army troops challenged and foiled the infiltration bid, he said, adding that in the exchange of fire one jawan suffered injuries and has been hospitalised.
“He (jawan) is stable,” the spokesman said adding that entire area has been cordoned off and combing operation is on when the last reports came from the area.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) in an official release also said that alert troops foiled an infiltration attempt in Pallanwala sector.
“In the ensuing fire fight, one jawan was injured who is stable now. Area was immediately cordoned and combing operations are in progress when last report came in,” it said. (AGENCIES)
