Army Hands Over Three Community Centres To Ladakhis In Remote Area

Srinagar, Nov 3: Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps dedicated three Community Centres to the people of remote villages of Ladakh Union Territory (UT) as they were facing immense difficulties in conducting social and cultural functions in the region.
Public Relation Officer (PRO) Defence Col Emron Musavi, said the Army’s Fire and Fury Corps dedicated three community centres of Merak, Chushul and Koyul to the people of far flung area of Changthang area in Ladakh region.
He said a grand ceremony was organized for the handing over these Community Centres at Merak, Chushul and Koyul.
This is a step by the Indian Army to make the life of villagers comfortable and at the same time foster deeper cooperation and confidence amongst them.
Brigade Commander, Chushul Brigade and Commandant, Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre interacted with the locals and handed over the community centres.
The village Headmen expressed appreciation to GOC, Fire and Fury Corps on fulfillment of their long standing demand.
These villages are located in far flung areas and lack facilities such as community halls, for organizing social and cultural functions.
During the inauguration and handing over ceremony Sonam Pambar, Numberdar, Merak, Lobzang Jandal, Numberdar, Chushul and Urgain Tsewang, Numberdar, Koyul were present along with Veterans, Veer Naris and villagers.
The village community thanked the Fire and Fury Corps for reaching out to the remote villages and providing necessary assistance in the form of the community halls. (Agencies)
