RAJOURI/ POONCH, Mar 23: The police arrested an Army jawan and an advocate on the charge of rape in two separate incidents at Rajouri and Mendhar today.
A senior police official said that Army jawan Shamsheer Hussain, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Saj village in Rajouri allegedly committed rape on a woman at a rented house at Kheora in Rajouri town last night. The jawan is posted in Rajasthan area and had come home on leave. The victim hails from Salwah in Mendhar and had come to his parents house at Kot Dhara. She had gone to hospital and the accused taking advantage of her innocence took her to nearby house and committed rape. She reported the matter to police which raided a house and arrested the accused. A case FIR No. 129/2014 was registered in this connection.
In yet another incident, advocate Anzar Ahmed, resident of Kalaban in Mendhar allegedly lifted a 20-year-old girl- Shabnam (name changed) of Kas Baladi village in his Santro car and took her towards Darana forest and allegedly committed rape on her. Some people of the area noticed the activities and reached there. They caught hold of the youth and thrashed him severely and later called police. The police party led by SHO Mendhar Bishnesh Kumar rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. A case FIR No. 33/2014 was registered against the accused. The police was investigating.
