Army jawan climbs mobile tower

UDHAMPUR, Sept 15:  An Army jawan climbed atop a mobile tower in protest against the refusal of leave application by his seniors and came down after more than five hours on the assurances of senior officer of the regiment.
Official sources said that Lance Naik D D Pathak of Signal Regiment, who was hospitalized due to some ailment, climbed the mobile town near Beerma Bridge under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station, soon after coming out of the Command Hospital at around 2 pm.
Some shopkeepers noticed him and immediately sounded Udhampur Police. Within shortest possible time, police personnel and civil defence squad rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the jawan to come down.
However, he refused to come down and alleged that he had applied for leave but the senior officers of the Signal Regiment rejected his application. He made it clear that he would take decision on coming down from the tower only when senior officers concede his demand.
Later, senior officer of the Signal Regiment climbed the tower and after two hour long persuasion managed to bring the jawan down at around 7.30 pm.
Sources said that jawan was under stress due to some domestic problems and wanted to visit his family.
