JAMMU, Feb 12: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide today by shooting himself with his service weapon on city outskirts.
“Sepoy Sandeep Singh (30) son of Jagtar Singh, resident of Bhatinda, was found dead early this morning at Post No 3 in Transit Camp, Panama Chowk, Jammu where he was presently posted, by his colleagues after they heard sound of fire,” a police official said.
He said the Jawan allegedly shot self with his service weapon which was found lying near his body. “After getting conducted postmortem at GMC&H Jammu, the body of the Jawan was handed over to the Army authorities,” the official further said, adding, inquest proceeding in this connection was initiated at police station Trikuta Nagar.
