JAMMU, Aug 12: An Army jawan today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at Nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a Defence spokesperson, 23-year old Lance Naik Deepak Singh died on the spot after he allegedly fired at his neck with his service rifle at 16 Corps headquarter in Nagrota area, this afternoon.
On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the body to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after completing medico-legal formalities it was handed over to Army authorities.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station Nagrota and investigations started. Meanwhile, Army has also ordered a Court of Inquiry into the case.
