Army jawan, family members arrested for demanding dowry

JAMMU, June 22: An Army jawan, along with three members of his family, were arrested for allegedly demanding dowry from his wife and forcing her to leave house in Khour area of city outskirts.
Police spokesman said that, a complaint was filed by the victim against her husband namely Sepoy Randhir Singh, deployed with 6 Dogra Regiment, a resident of village Pargwal at Police Station Pargwal.
The woman in her complaint alleged that she was being harassed and tortured by her in-laws for dowry and was forced to leave the house, he added.
The victim narrated the matter to her parents and they approached the police, following which a case under FIR number 36/13 under Sections 498 A, 147, 323 and 452 of RPC was registered at Khour Police Station against her husband Randhir Singh, father-in-law Rasaal Singh, Davinder Singh and Balwinder Singh, brothers-in-law, he said.
“All of them have been taken into custody and the investigation were in process”, he added.
