Army jawan fires at brother

JAMMU, Oct 22: An Army soldier fired at his brother over a family dispute at village Jandiala under the jurisdiction of Gharota police station last night. Police have arrested the accused.
Police said Ravi Kumar son of Prem Chand, a resident of village Jandiala, presently putting up at Bantalab, an Army jawan, who had come to his house on leave, fired three to four shots aiming his Pharmacist brother, Devi Ditta in his house at Jandiala.
However, Devi Ditta, who was posted in the Government Medical College, Jammu, managed to run away from the house after observing his brother entering his house along with a .12 bore gun.
The bullets fired by the Army jawan hit doors and other areas in the house.
Police later arrested the Army jawan and seized his weapon. A case has been registered against him at Gharota police station.
Police said family dispute was the reason behind the firing.
