Army jawan injured in grenade attack

Srinagar, Aug 22: Militants today hurled a grenade on an Army vehicle in South Kashmir  Shopian area injuring an Army jawan.
Police said that militants hurled a grenade on a patrol party of Rashtriya Rifles at Imam Sahib in Shopian town this afternoon.
The grenade exploded causing splinter injuries to a jawan who was evacuated to hospital.
The area was cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants involved in the attack. However, no one was arrested.
Shopian has been tense for last few days after police lodged an FIR against two youth who were allegedly involved in stone pelting. The strike and protests paralysed life in the township for several days.
Police and security forces fired tear smoke shells and charged batons on the protesters.
