JAMMU, Jan 23: A Naik of Army, posted in Northern Command Udhampur today ended his life by shooting himself with his service rife at 51 Medium Regiment.
He was on Sentry duty in the wee hours when he shot himself dead.
The deceased was identified as Naik Akhilesh Kumar Dubey number 15150404, son of Davinder Parsad Dubey of Bhagalpur, Bihar, who was presently posted at 51, Medium Regiment.
He shot himself with Insas under mysterious circumstances. Even as he was immediately rushed to Command Hospital Udhampur, he could not respond to the treatment and breathed his last soon after the admission. After postmortem, dead body of the deceased was handed over to the officials for sending it to his residence.
Meanwhile, Rhembal police has registered a case in this connection for further investigations.
