DODA, Aug 3: Two young men today drowned accidentally in the waters of mighty Chenab river here after performing cremation of a relative.

Sources informed that one of the drowned men was serving in Indian Army and was identified as Rohit Singh, 25, son of Ramesh Kumar while the other was Sunil Kumar, 24, son of Ram Raj and both were the residents of Durga Nagar area of Khellani in Doda.
The incident took place on the bank of Chanab river near village Durga Nagar and the drowned duo was washing their hands with the river water after performing last rights of their relative and they accidently slipped into deep waters.
Others present on the spot raised an alarm and called police after which a search operation was started to fish-out the drowned duo.
Cops along with personnel of SDRF and locals of the area joined the search operation.
SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom when contacted informed that bodies of the drowned men were not found till evening and the search operation was stopped as it grew dark but the same shall commence in the morning.
