Army Medical Corps celebrates Raising Day

UDHAMPUR, Jan 1: The Army Medical Corps (AMC) today celebrated its 251st Anniversary.
On the occasion, Command Hospital Northern Command under the aegis of Headquarter Northern Command (Medical Branch) organized a Health Talk on Healthy Heart for Healthy Living. This was attended by a large number of combatants and families. The Army Medical Corps, as custodians of health care, exhorted all present to embrace healthy lifestyles in the form of nutritious diets, regular exercise and create stress free work environment. The health seminar was graced by Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, Chief of Staff (COS) HQ Northern Command besides other senior officers of the Command.
On the occasion, Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC-in-C (Army Commander) Northern Command appreciated the good work done by Army Medical Corps in looking after troops and families in Northern Command.
From its modest beginnings as the ‘Bengal Medical Service’ on Jan 1, 1764, the AMC has truly come of age. Corps has a glorious history of serving the Indian Armed Forces in war and peace. The Army Medical Corps is known for its dedicated and proficient doctors and paramedical staff. The Corps provides outstanding treatment to serving personnel and veterans of the Indian Armed Forces including the dependents of soldiers, sailors and airmen.
