MENDHAR, May 7: Security forces arrested an intruder when he crossed over to this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Poonch sector today.
Official sources said that 70-year-old Mohd Sharief who had crossed over to PoK several years ago today crossed over to this from Deri Dabsi area of Balakote (Mendhar) and was nabbed by the Army jawans. He was said to be arrested by the Pak authorities when he crossed over to that side and was also jailed for three years. His brother Mohd Naseem, who resides at Dangi village of Kotli (PoK) when came to know about it, contested the case and got him released from Pak jail. He stayed with his brother in PoK for several years. He was ailing for the past several months and tried to cross over to this side from Mendhar this morning.
SDPO Mendhar Shahid Naheem said that the intruder was still in Army custody and he is likely to be handed over to local police tomorrow.
