Army organises educational tour for students

SHOPIAN, Aug 22: Army based at Shopian organized an Education /Motivational tour for a group of 20 students of AGS, Balapur to Delhi and Hissar under the aegis of Chinar Corps from August 22 to Septemper 5, 2015. Brig K Venugopal, Commander of Shopian Garrison, flagged off the tour today in a simple ceremony at AGS Balapur. Col RS Bazad, Principal of AGS Balapur, parents of participant candidates and other dignitaries were present during the ceremony.
The aim of the tour is to offer an opportunity to the children of remote areas of Shopian and Pulwama districts to witness the high standard of education in remaining part of the country and to visit various industries in Hissar and Delhi. The tour will visit Agricultural University, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Vet and Animal Science, Jindal Steel Industry, Jindal Gyan Kendra and Industrial Training Institute.  On arrival at Delhi, students will visit India Gate, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) Pusa, Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, Pusa, Farmer Training Centre (Kisan Vidyapith) Pusa and Delhi Darshan (Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Lodhi Garden & Connaught Place), Parliament House, Pragati Maidan, Delhi University, Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Talkatora Stadium and Sports Complex, Army Public School Dhaula Kuan and Manekshaw Centre at Delhi.
As part of these tour students will witness various state of the art industries, modern city infrastructures, various domains for their careers and get chance to mingle with children of their age from different culture.  During the visit to Delhi, students will meet the Army Chief as well.
The jubilant participants set off for tour amidst high spirits in anticipation of 14 days of fun, learning and a great travel experience. This initiative taken by the Army for organising a tour for the youth was appreciated by all present during the occasion.
