Army organises ESM rally in Nubra

UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: An ex-servicemen rally was conducted by the Siachen Brigade in the Nubra valley.
The rally was an opportunity for the local population of Nubra and Shyok Valley to interact with the  Army officials in Ladakh region.  More than 2100 people including ex-servicemen, Veer Naries and children attended the rally.
The invitees for both events included local civil authorities from Disket, councilors of Panamik, Sumur, Disket, Hunder and Turtuk, village Sarpanchs/Nambardars and Ex-servicemen of Nubra region.  The rally was addressed by chief guest Lt Gen SK Patyal, GOC 14 Corps.
At rally site, stalls by Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Defence personnel disbursement office Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and Records Cell LSRC (Ladakh Scouts Regimental Center) were established for the benefit of ex-servicemen and solving their grievances.  A Medical camp with was organized to provide medical assistance during rally.
The highlight of the rally was distribution of a number of items to the villages and schools by the chief guest under Operation SADBHAVANA. This included computers with accessories, sports items and education material to Government schools.  Solar lights, sewing machines, green house sheets, hand pump and syntax tanks to villages of Nubra valley.
