Army organises tour for Uri children

SRINAGAR, June 10: Kala Pahar Brigade of Army had organised a two week educational tour for children of Uri to New Delhi, Darjeeling and Kalimpong last month as part of “Sadhbhavana” which was flagged at Thimayya Hall by Deputy GOC, Dagger Division, spokperson of the army today said in a statement.
A total of 26 youth in age group of 14 to 20 years residing in the remote areas around Uri, formed a part of team. “The tour was organsied with the aim to acquaint the children with the diverse cultural heritage of our great nation. It also provided an opportunity to these budding minds to witness the dramatic growth and development being achieved in our country,” the statement said.
During their visit to New Delhi these children visited famous historical places like Connaught Place, India Gate, Rajghat, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple and Qutab Minar.  The children also visited Ghoom Monastery, Peace Pagoda, Tea Garden, Happy Valley, Mala Road and Bhutia Burty Gompa in Darjeeling.  This visit has given the children an excellent exposure and insight into the diversity of our country and will assist them in moulding their outlook towards life, the statement said.
