Army organises veterans’ rally

UDHAMPUR, June 19: A veterans’ rally, organised by Army today at Samote, was inaugurated by the GOC, Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) in the presence of dignitaries from the civil administration, veterans and Veer Naris from the districts of Rajouri and Reasi.
The rally gave the veterans a platform to interact with officials from Records of various Army establishments, Civil administration, Civil Police and banks. Various stalls and counters were established with officials from Zila Sainik Board, Defence Pension Disbursing Officer (DPDO), Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) and State Bank of India to address the issues of ex-servicemen on the spot.
Information on employment schemes conducted by Directorate General Resettlement, AWPO for second career option to ex-servicemen, welfare schemes by Kendriya Sainik Board, pension entitlements, educational and information relating to recruitment procedure for wards of ex-servicemen, was provided for the benefit of all attendees. Medical check-up facility was also available under the supervision of Regiment Medical Officer, for health checkup and provision of medicines.
The GOC, CIF (Uniform), in his address, complimented the ex-servicemen for their yeoman service and devotion to the nation. He exhorted upon them to holistically continue their contribution towards development of society and the nation. a
