Army organizes artificial appliances distribution camp, tour for differently abled persons

POONCH, Nov 22: Durga Battalion under the aegis of Poonch Brigade and Pritam Spiritual Trust organized a free Artificial Appliances Distribution Camp at Pritam Stadium under Operation Sadbhavana.
The camp was inaugurated by Lieutenant General DS Hooda, GOC HQ 16 Corps in presence of senior Army Officers and civil dignitaries.
“As every physically challenged sufferer has the right to be gainfully employed and rehabilitated, the artificial appliances distribution camp has brought dignity of life to many of those who would have remained crippled for life”, said Lieutenant General.
If we help a person, a family is sustained and if families are strengthened, our nation takes a giant stride forward, he added.
During the camp over 50 beneficiaries including men, women and children from entire district were benefited. A total of 6 tricycles, 9 wheel chairs, 20 hearing aids and 15 pair crutches were presented.
The beneficiaries have come from far flung areas of the Poonch district including, Bhimbar Gali, Mendhar, Surankot and Krishna Ghati.
Meanwhile, 23 differently abled persons belonging to Poonch district were flagged off on a tour to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur by GOC 16 Corps, Lieutenant General DS Hooda.
This motivational tour is a composite package in which the participants would get an opportunity to visit places of interest in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
The participants will get a wide exposure to visit prominent places of interest like India Gate, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Akshardham Temple, Raj Ghat, Shanti Van and Lotus Temple at Delhi. They will also visit educational institutes and historical places like ITI Balakeshwar, Dr BR Ambedkar University, Tajmahal at Agra and Jaipur Engineering College, ITI Banikpart, Hawa Mahal and Amber Palace Museum at Jaipur.
