POONCH, June 3: An awareness lecture on ‘ill effects of smoking and drinking on health’ was organized for the villagers at Haribudha, by a Rashtriya Rifles battalion of Romeo Force.
The lecture was aimed at generating awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and drinking on health. The lecture was attended by 35 locals from Haribudha and adjoining villages.
The awareness talk was delivered by the company commander of the Army unit conducting the event. He explained how excessive smoking and drinking cause lung damage, liver failure and cancer.
It was highlighted that the youth of today and yester years easily fell prey to these life threatening addictions due to peer pressure, stress and to make a style statement in order to feel more accepted in a group.
The lecture also covered the ways one could go about quitting these habits and various gadgets and medicines available which aided in quitting smoking.
