SRINAGAR, Feb  7:  In continuation to the effort of Army to empower people, Chinar Corps organized three-day  mega event ‘Milan’  from February 5 to 7  at  Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar  stadium, Shopian.
“Milan (interactive) programme truly showcases the closeness and bonding between locals of the area and the Army.  It provided huge platform of opportunities to the youth to showcase their talent in the field of sports, co-curricular activities and various prospects of education and empowerment.
Lt Gen Subrata Saha,  GOC Chinar Corps appreciated the efforts taken by Army and civil agencies of  Shopian and Pulwama to educate youths about the various prospect of jobs in Army & Government  agencies and measure to avail those opportunities.  He also expressed his satisfaction on the drawing competition of school children which was organized and which witnessed a huge participation. It proved to be an excellent exposure for the young minds to build up their confidence and prove their mettle.
Prizes among the  winners and participants were also distributed. Internet & IT awareness program for children of schools Bal Ashram was conducted to educated them about the importance of IT in education. Chinar Corps gave monetary assistance to Balashram  Pinzur, DIET Shopian and Balashram, Pulwama.  Information stalls were established to create  awareness regarding  Defence forces placement, horticultural and coaching institutes for students.
The GOC also appreciated the medical and veterinary camp organised by Army in which nearly  2000 patients were checked & provided free medicines.  He also  appreciated the distribution of relief/winter material  in terms of blankets among over 1500 families.
