JAMMU, July 22: A medical-cum-veterinary camp was organised by Army under Sadhbhavana at Dudbhug village of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district in response to the constant request by the locals of the area for medical attention as they find it difficult to get medical cover because of hailing from a remote area.
A defence official said that a joint team of doctors from Army and civil administration, including lady doctors, nursing assistant and paramedics participated in providing medical assistance to 468 people, including women and children.
“Besides this, 335 livestock were also treated at the camp. A medical team comprising of one veterinary doctor with two assistants were present to treat the livestock. Handouts on various career prospects were distributed and a lecture on ‘Health and Hygiene’ was also conducted. Various other stalls, including a stall on SBI Life, stall of Stationery & a stall on agricultural products was also on display for the betterment of the locals,” the official said.
The 52 RR of Army has been regularly organising medical camps in the strife torn areas of Baramulla district. “The general populace in these areas is greatly benefited by these camps as there is a lack of medical facilities in these areas. These camps also help in establishment of a rapport between the people and army”, the official added.
