Army organizes Milap

SRINAGAR, Feb 1: A mega seven days event of ‘Milap’ is being held by Army at Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar stadium, Shopian, under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
The ‘Milap’ program showcases the closeness and emotional connect between people and army.  This programme provides an opportunity to the youth to showcase their talent in the field of sports and explore various prospects of empowerment.
“The valley is witnessing winter session of ‘Chillai Bachha’ and army will be taking a step further to comfort the Awam of Shopian and Pulwama by organising a Medical and Vet Camp at Batpura, Shopian. Relief material to overcome the winter chill will also be distributed to the needy families”, a statement issued by army said here.
The statement said that Cricket tournament between the teams of Shopian and Pulwama will be organised in the honour of the martyr of Shopian, as Shaheed Imtiaz Thokar Cricket tournament.” Field and track events have been planned for the students of 8th and 9th standard.  Students will get the chance to rub shoulders with their counterparts from different schools of these two districts.  It will be a welcome exposure for them to build up their confidence and improve upon their skills.  Exciting prizes for winners and participants have been planned”, the statement adds.
“Shopian has been the land of scholars in the past.  To honour them, a Symposium on ‘Empowering Youth’ will also be organised during this MILAP progamme.  All the dignitaries and intellectuals to include MLAs, DC Shopian and Pulwama, SSP of both the districts, Sessions Judge, Maulvis, Principals of Government and private schools, media persons and trade associates will be invited to share and express their views”, the statement added.
