Srinagar, Apr 23: Army today said it organized ‘Seerat Conference’ and a ‘Naat competition’ in Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A defence spokesman said the event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the audience of more than 400 students from various schools of Sumbal and its adjoining villages by Maulvi Shabeer Ahmed. “It was followed by Tilawat-e-Quran (recitation of Quran) after which the competition commenced. 10 students participated in the competition and impressed one and all with their knowledge, zeal and articulation,” he added.
The spokesman said the speakers spoke on the pious life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and stressed upon the importance of peace and communal harmony. “The speakers also stressed upon the point to follow the foot prints of Holy Prophet and to acquire knowledge of various religions as every religion teaches peace and harmony among masses. At the end, all the participants were felicitated with Holy Quran and winners of the competition were awarded cash prize,” the spokesman added.
