Army organizes seminar on ‘Combat Medical Support’

UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: The Army’s Northern Command Hospital organized a seminar on “Combat Medical Support-Evolving Doctrines” as part of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme.
Leading experts in combat medical care from all the services presented and discussed the latest advances in the field. In his inaugural address, Lt Gen DS Hooda, General Officer Commanding in Chief (Army Commander) lauded the efforts of the Command Hospital in organizing the academic event focused on the vital area of medical care in the services. He also released the souvenir on the occasion.
A CD on CME was released by Lt Gen NPS Hira, Chief of Staff, Northern Command. Lt Gen MK Unni, Director General Medical Service (Army) and Col Commandant Army Medical Corps, was the guest of honour and inaugurated the scientific exhibition alongside the event.
The MG (Medical), Maj Gen SPS Kochar, said that the academic event features lectures, panel discussions and deliberations on newer concepts, overseas experiences and training modalities.
Maj Gen N Srinath, Commandant of Command Hospital, while concluding the inaugural ceremony, said that the proceedings of the CME will definitely help the medical fraternity keep abreast with the latest in combat medicine.
The keynote address was delivered by Maj Gen Bipin Puri, the senior consultant surgery of the Armed Forces on “The Changing paradigms & evolving strategies in combat medical support”.
Col Sanjay Maurya, the organizing secretary and reconstructive surgeon at Command Hosp ital, said that the CME provided a platform for the young medical officers and specialists at the point of care as well the unit commanders of combat units to come together and share their experiences.
The Udhampur based Army hospital is the only tertiary care facility in the command zone that receives patients by road and air from the border areas as well the counter insurgency/counter terrorist environment.
