SRINAGAR: The Army on Tuesday paid rich tribute to three soldiers, who were martyred in two separate incidents in south Kashmir.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told reporters that the soldiers were on Tuesday paid a befitting tribute by the Army in a solemn ceremony at Badami Bang Cantonment.
“Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation,” he said, adding representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyr.
Two soldiers — identified as Havildar Amarjeet Kumar & Naik Ajit Kumar Sahoo — who were critically injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Pulwama, died in the hospital on Tuesday. Besides these two, four soldiers were injured when militants detonated an IED targeting Army patrol vehicle at village Arihal, Pulwama in south Kashmir Monday evening.
He said 35-year-old Havildar Kumar had joined the Army in 2005 and hailed from village Dighawlia in Siwan District of Bihar. “The martyr is survived by his wife and two sons,” he said.
Col Kalia said Naik Sahoo was 27 years old and hailed from Village Badasuanalo in Dhenknal District of Odisha. He had joined the Army in 2015 and is survived by his parents. (AGENCIES)
