Army pays tribute to soldier

SRINAGAR, May 29: Army today paid befitting tribute to Late Sepoy Vikram Singh who attained martyrdom during a terrorist attack on Sunday in Kakapora village of Pulwama district.

An Army spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation.  He said in a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyr.
The spokesman said that Vikram Singh sustained bullet injury during a cowardly and provocative standoff attack by the terrorists on Kakapora Army Camp in Pulwama district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
He said the martyr  Vikram Singh, was 25 years old and had joined Army in 2013. He belonged to village Ladpur of Chhata tehsil in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife.The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be cremated with full military honours.
