JAMMU, Apr 30: A two-day Army placement Mela was inaugurated today by Lieutenant General Ashok Ambre, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps at Bari Brahmana, Military Garrison near Jammu today. The event was conducted by Tiger Division for the ex- servicemen of Jammu & Kashmir to provide them second career opportunities. The event was organized at a large scale and was graced by presence of veteran Major General GS Jamwal, Lalit Kumar Mahajan, chairman Federation of Industries Jammu and president Bari Brahmana Industries Association and Rakesh Gupta President, Chamber of Commence and Industry, Jammu. More than 22 private companies and Industries including some from Jammu, Gangyal, Bari Brahmana, Samba and Kathua participated in the event for recruiting veterans for various jobs. The event was a great success with nearly 2000 veterans participating in the event. The chief guest while addressing the gathering, emphasized upon the aspects of “Corporate Social Responsibility” of the industries. He impressed upon the need for the industry representatives to understand and appreciate the various responsibilities that an Army veteran undertakes during his career in the Army which include role of a manager, supervisor, inventory holder and much more at various levels. He also highlighted the advantage gained by both industry and the veterans, wherein the industries get the trained, disciplined and dedicated retired personnel from the Armed Forces.
