Army promoting harmony in Chenab, Pir-Panjal region

JAMMU, Sept 26: In the ongoing efforts of Army in improving the harmony in Jammu division, the troops of White Knight Corps have taken a very noble and onerous task in increasing the community interaction at grass root level, thus ensuring that peace in the region takes a positive turn.

A Defence spokesman said that the Army organised nearly 50 odd interactions/ meetings in Chenab region and some areas in south of Pir Panjal in last one week. The prominent loations are Doda, Bhadarwah, Suigarh and Ramban. Over 3500 people participated in the meetings, over the last one week.

Similarly, nearly 2500 people turn out for the meetings held at over 40 locations in the areas of Reasi, Talwara, Samote, Buddhal, Mahore, Bagga and Gool. While in the region of Rajouri, Thannamandi, Manjakote, Balakote, Mendhar, Surankote, Loran and Ari, nearly 2500 people were addressed, at over 60 locations. Overall about 10, 000 people took part in the same, at about 150 different locations in the region South of Pir Panjal ranges.

The spokesman said that the aim of these meetings was to develop synergy, understanding and better coordination between all communities and the Army. Emphasis was laid on the need for harmonious functioning of the Government agencies, Army and the locals. The important personalities and religious heads of all communities understood the benefits of peaceful co-existence resulting in development of the region which invariably will be helpful for them and their future generation. They were also urged to exercise restraint from any provocation by the inimical elements for their personal gains. The secular fibre of the region is being strengthened by this noble initiatives undertaken by the Army and is leading to a greater understanding between different communities.
