LEH, May 25: As a part of Indian Army’s humane approach for helping poor and needy people of J&K region, Tiger Hill brigade initiated two noble projects called ‘ OP SAHYOG I & II’ wherein two poor and unfortunate persons were identified for being treated for artificial limbs.
In the first case, during routine civil interaction with the civilians of the area, the Chorbatla battalion identified S Karma Rinchen, resident of Skurbuchan (a remote village in Leh district), who lost his right arm in a gruesome land slide in August 2010.  He has a family of nine persons, with meager income to support them.
In the second case, the Batalik battalion extended a healing hand towards Zora Banoo (27) resident of Chullichang (a remote village) suffering from ‘right knee amputation lower limb’.  She had met with an accident when she was just two years old and her lower limb had to be amputated.  Her brother had participated in the Kargil War as a porter and had suffered grievous injuries due to shelling.
Under the Tiger Hill Brigade both units liaised with Artificial Limb Centre, Pune for fitting of prosthetic limbs in both the cases. Both persons were sent alongwith attendants to Pune for their further medical treatment on April 25, 2014.
After detailed examination and physiotherapy, prosthetic limbs were fitted on S Karma Rinchen and Miss Zohra Banoo at Pune in May 2014 and they returned to their village recently.  Both individuals were felicitated at village Lasthang, today by General Officer Commanding, Fire & Fury Corps in a grand ceremony. All expenses for their treatment were borne by the Indian Army. The local population lauded the Army for this noble gesture.
