Army provides relief to Kishtwar blaze victims

KISHTWAR Oct 18: Army today reached out to the blaze victims of Sukhnai village in Warwan valley of Kishtwar district and distributed relief among them.
A defence spokesman said the devastated population of Sukhnai village in Warwan valley, which lost almost their entire belongings in a catastrophic forest fire, found their Army standing by their side in this hour of colossal human tragedy.
“Army reached out to the people, where 60 houses were gutted in a major fire on the night of October 15 and 16, by air lifting immediate aid of rations, blankets and medicines. Responding swiftly to the distress call, the Army pressed into service its helicopters,” he said.
The Army has also dispatched a column from its closest camp at Inshan which is about 25 kilometer away from Sukhnai to further coordinate the relief efforts in conjunction with the other Government agencies. “The Army remains resolute to assist the civil administration in rendering all possible assistance to bring succour to the affected people of Sukhnai,” he said.
