NOWSHERA, Feb 1: The Indian army has undertaken a major renovation project for Bal Ashram at Nowshera, which is a home to 54 children from under privilege sections of the society.
After its adoption by the Naoshera Brigade in the year 2001, the Army has carried out several activities and welfare projects for improving the condition of the occupants and providing basic amenities.
Presently, the Rumlidhara Battalion has been involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the Ashram.
Currently, the Army has started a project for construction of hard standing and flooring in the Bal Ashram to provide additional space to the children to carry out outdoor activities even during inclement weather.
The children are also being provided with study tables and dining table with chairs so as to enhance the living conditions. A major cleanliness drive is also underway to spruce up the area and cover the perimeter wall of the Ashram to provide security and privacy to the children.
Re-plastering of the walls and then painting is also underway and it is expected that the Ashram would have an entirely new look by the time the children get together to celebrate Naoshera Day on February 6, 2016.
