Army rescues 140 stranded passengers

Srinagar, Apr 19: Army today rescued around 140 passengers, including women and children, at Nasta Chun Pass in Tangdhar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
An Army spokesman said here that on April 17 these passengers were stranded between Nasta Chun Pass and Tangdhar when the vehicles they were travelling in  got stuck in snow and could not move further.
“Army post located at the pass received the information about the incident and its avalanche rescue team sprung into action and evacuated all the stranded people to safety and provided them a safe passage till Nasta Chun Pass, where they were provided with tea, food and medical aid,” the spokesman claimed.
The spokesman said a snow clearing dozer was also pressed into service by the BRO persons to clear the road off the snow to allow the traffic to move out of the danger area.
