Army rescues skiers in Gulmarg

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: Army today rescued a team of skiers stranded in Gulmarg area of Baramulla district.
An official said that post of Banal received information last night about a group of seven skiers including 2 foreign nationals (Switzerland) who were stranded due to bad weather after coming down from Sunshine peak.
He said that the SDPO Tangmarg was informed and the rescue team under Major Abhay received the information around 07:30pm and tried to establish contact with the stranded skiers.
He said that at around 9: 45pm, the rescue team was able to establish contact with the stranded civilians who were occupying a dhok near Alu post and stayed put for the night as the approach route was not accessible and bad visibility was there.
He said the Rescue Operation started at around 0800 am and they were brought to Banal post and given first aid and meals.
