Srinagar, Mar 22: Army today ruled out any fresh infiltration of militants into Kashmir this winter and said that the attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) must have been carried out by the resident militants.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt General Om Prakash said on the side-lines of a seminar held by Baramulla based 19 Division of Army: “There is lot of snow and infiltration in winter is almost impossible. It is most probably the handiwork of resident militants who have infiltrated during summer last year.”
The Army commander said that militants are here in the Valley and last year “we had major success against them. We are ready to deal with any kind of situation”.
The GOC said that Army is alert along the Line of Control and “we are ready to deal with any kind of situation”.
“We have foiled large number of attempts last year and killed militants on the LoC”, he added.
It may be mentioned here that Police last week claimed that March 13 Bemina Fidayeen attacked in which 5 CRPF men were killed and 10 others including 4 civilians were injured was carried out by militants who had infiltrated in January and February this year.
