Army starts drive for ‘Peaceful’ Kashmir

Srinagar, May 21: In a unique initiative, the schools in Ganderbal district and army have  joined hands in organising  a programmes featuring  a series of events like drawing competitions, caption writing, placard making, debates  and peace marches on the theme ‘Peaceful Kashmir Progressive Kashmir’.
A defence spokesman said these events are planned to be conducted at various Government schools of the area as group activities.
The drive was initiated on May 20 at Government Middle School Shathalpura and over the next three days, the participants would divide themselves into small groups of three to five students each putting up their creativity in the form of write-ups, drawings and poetry that would be displayed at the school premises and winners would be duly awarded.
“Such programs are bound to go a long way in gainfully capturing the imagination of young minds and contributing towards peace and prosperity of Kashmir,” he said.
Meanwhile, army said the aspirations for national unity, harmony, peace, development and cleanliness manifested loud and clear as the children of Government Higher Secondary School Wayil wonder put paint and brush to the canvas in a three day Group Drawing Project in Ganderbal.
“Conducted by  the army at the request of the school faculty, the event received a very encouraging response from the children with over 50 kids including 12 girls giving shape and colour to the Kashmir of  their dreams. The projects were displayed in the school and winners and all participants felicitated for their wonderful efforts,” the spokesman added.
