Army starts work to re-open LOC village road

Srinagar, Dec 14: The Army in Uri has begun repairing a road that was damaged by the 2014 floods while the same has inspired hope among the locals for its completion after a gap of almost 8 years.
Residents claimed that despite requests to the authorities, the road in Gowalta village along the LoC remained closed after being damaged in floods.
They said that they had been requesting the PMGSY officials and others to open the road but there was no headway and the road remained closed.
They added that a sizable population of the area suffered greatly for all those years because the road closure kept it isolated from the Tehsil headquarters.
“Now that the work has been started, we hope that the Army unit at will complete the road at the earliest,” the locals said.
