JAMMU, Feb 28: An elderly person was mowed down by an Army vehicle in Sainik Colony area of the winter capital.
As per reports, 60-year-old Bansi Lal, son of Dhani Ram, a resident of Ward number 6, Bishnah was crossing the road, when an Army vehicle hit him near Sainik Colony. The hit was so potent that the man died on the spot.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to family members for last rites.
The vehicle has been seized and the accused driver identified as Ishwar Singh arrested.
A case under FIR number 21/14 under Section 279, 337 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Sainik Colony police post and investigation started.
