JAMMU, Nov 5: BJP senior leader and MLC, Ramesh Arora has expressed serious concern over growing corruption in public life especially in Health and Medical Education Department.
Arora said that corruption is on the peak in Health & Medical Education Department where it height is the has become a buzzword for corrupt officials and officers.
He said though Medical profession is considered holiest among all professions, but the present corrupt and inefficient practices by the concerned are bringing bad name to the whole community. “I appreciate steps initiated by Governor regarding checking corrupt practices in Medical Insurance and welcome the drastic steps taken by him to check this menace in the State”, said Arora at a press conference here, today. He was flanked by BJP State Media Incharge & State press secretary, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra.
Ramesh Arora said that he initiated this debate in Upper House when he demanded explanation “How Medical Insurance is given to ICICI, Lombard and worth Rs 6,98,93,208 crore were disbursed. The Medical Institution shown on panel were not upto mark, some were non-existing and those who were existing in the penal was an eye wash especially in Jammu and Kashmir State”.
But the reply was given in a very tactful manner and facts were not fully disclosed. Arora further said that to avoid further exposure on corruption Health and Medical Education Department switched over from “ICICI Lombard” to “Reliance” and Governor, S. P. Malik took serious note against the existing corruption and referred matter for enquiry after cancellation. Both the matters ICICI Lombard and Reliance be investigated, he added.
Arora further said not only this, in the case of Sadhaya Arora (Arora’s son), Joint House Committee recommended action against Dr. Anil Mahajan HoD, and Chief Secretary endorsed the same and not only this the GAD also endorsed and sent matter to then Commissioner Secretary of the Department, Dr Pawan Kotwal and now new Commissioner, Atal Dulloo wanted to hush-up the matter for reasons best known to him. He alleged that this is reflection of another casual, callous and corrupt approach.
Arora said they wanted the concerned doctor should retire and report will automatically become ineffective. “Today, I met with Governor S.P Malik and I requested him to intervene for justice”, he added.
