Arora for preservation of heritage building of R S Pura Railway Station

JAMMU, Mar 27: BJP MLC, Adv. Ramesh Arora visited R.S. Pura to take stock of the situation after removing encroachment from heritage Railway Station which was existing since 1927 but was illegally occupied by few persons.
Police authorities along with Revenue authorities were present on spot. Ramesh Arora said he has launched a movement against the encroachments. Heritage building of Railway Station R.S. Pura is required to be protected and it will attract tourists within State and from outside, he added.
He said Jammu & Kashmir headed by Maharaja Hari Singh at that point of time was having well knit Railway system from Bikram Chowk, Jammu and first stop of the train prior to independence was at Miran Sahib and thereafter at R.S. Pura and within 50 minutes train used to reach Sailkot via Suchetgarh.
Arora said that it is our heritage and all points of Railway Station at Bikram Chowk, Miran Sahib and R.S. Pura will be protected. He said that it is first step that three buildings got vacated from illegal encroachers. Although, alternative place has been provided to three families but still more portion of Old Railway Station is under occupation of three to four more families and he will take up the matter with Government and also assured their settlement at alternative place.
A deputation of local residents also met with MLC and apprised him about the problems faced by them who in response assured all possible help to them. The MLC made it clear to them also that there can’t be any compromise on illegal encroachment of heritage points.
Arora said we are in a process of development of Suchetgarh border as a commitment was made in this regard by late Mufti Mohd. Sayeed and State Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also endorsed it. He said he will again meet with Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister and other concerned so that matter can be resolved amicably and permanent alternative places is to be provided to displaced families.
Arora said that it is our duty that our present generation must feel proud about the good steps taken in past and gets inspiration from the same.
