Around 200 put behind bars for misbehaving with women

HYDERABAD , Oct 5:  Nearly 200 persons were put behind bars for misbehaving with women during the 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations held last month in Hyderabad.

During the recent 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, SHE Teams actively worked to safeguard women in crowded areas like Khairatabad Bada Ganesh and other crowded areas.

Out of the 996 individuals caught Red-handed for misbehaving with women, 200 persons were produced before the local Court, found guilty and awarded 3 days imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1,050 U/s 292 BNS & 70 ? Hyderabad City Police Act, Cyber Crimes & Women Safety police said in a release here on Friday.

These offenders were apprehended with video/photo evidence of their indecent behaviour in various public places in Hyderabad.

The remaining offenders, for whom video evidence could not be captured, were strictly counselled in the presence of their family members. They were warned about their conduct and ordered to attend SHE Teams for counselling sessions at regular intervals.

These individuals will remain under surveillance by SHE Teams to monitor their behaviour and ensure they refrain from repeating such actions.

The aim of SHE Teams is not only to punish offenders but also to correct the misguided youth, by influencing their mindset and attitude towards women in society through counselling, and attendance.

All will be counselled in the presence of Psychologists in a separate counselling session. This initiative emphasizes psychological reform and offers individuals a chance to change their behaviour and perception towards women.
