JAMMU, June 17: Around 4000 youth participated in the special recruitment drive conducted by Army at Kargil.
Being a Muslim dominated area, the youth of Kargil were ignored in the recruitment of Central Forces like Army, BSF, IRP, SSB and even in local regiment of Ladakh Scouts, which was established for Ladakh region only.
In the past, Army conducted recruitment drives in Leh, but due to high expenditure, the Kargil youth could not participate.
Keeping in view such complaints, Army authorities after taking permission from the higher authorities conducted a special recruitment drive in Kargil, in which more than 4000 youths participated.
On the occasion, Brigade Commander and concerned Commanding Officers were present.
Due to heavy rush of the participants, heavy police force was also deployed at the venue.
