JAMMU, Aug 11: As Russia today unveiled its Corona virus vaccine Sputnik V, Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) has appealed the Lt Governor of J&K to procure the same for the people of the UT.
Dr Balvinder Singh, DAJ president, in a statement issued today, said it is indeed a good news for whole mankind that the Republic of Russia has developed and launched 1st Corona vaccine Sputnik V.
He said as the cases of COVID-19 are increasing fast in J&K and had claimed lives of many young people including doctors, no delay should be done in procuring this Corona vaccine. He urged upon the LG Manoj Sinha to arrange Sputnik V vaccine for people of Jammu and Kashmir as soon as it is available in market.
“As the medical personnel of different categories are directly involved in tackling positive patients, they must be vaccinated to start with, followed by children and other public,” said Dr Manjeet Singh, general secretary of DAJ.
The association once again appealed the general public to fully cooperate with administration and health authorities in curbing this dreadful pandemic by observing social distancing and wearing masks properly.
