SAMBA, Oct 2: A meeting of District officers was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Samba Mubarak Singh to discuss and make necessary arrangements for the ensuing festivals including Dussehra and Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting discussed in detail the necessary arrangements of security, traffic regulation, provision for drinking water and power supply, checking of overcharging and controlling the prices of commodities and quality of food items Sanitation, first-aid and deployment of fire tenders etc for the smooth conduct of the festivals.
The DDC enjoined upon the concerned departments to put in place adequate medical facilities, proper security and traffic regulation arrangements. He also stressed to make provisions for additional transport for the convenience of the people during the festival days.
After having detailed discussion, the District Development Commissioner directed that the price control committee already constituted will carry out checking of the rate lists of food items, fruits and eatables etc. so as to ensure that quality stuff is sold as per price list.
A team comprising of AD CA&PD Samba, AC Legal Metrology, EO MC concerned, SHO concerned, Food Inspector has been constituted to check quality of food items. In rural areas, the monitoring will be done by a committee comprising of Naib Tehsildar concerned, SHO, Food Inspector, TSO and representatives of Legal Metrology.
The DDC also directed district level officers to ensure adequate facilities at mosques for the devotees who come for prayers. Discussing Various issues, the DDC directed the officers of the Municipal Committees to ensure cleanliness in and around the Mosques particularly Teli Basti Bari-Brahmna, Eidgah Barjani Talab, Shant Talab etc where Eid Prayers would be affected.
The Executive Engineer PDD and PHE were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during these festivals.
Divisional officer, fire and emergency Services, Samba was directed to deploy a fire tender at Dussehra Grounds earmarked for celebration of Dussehra by the Dussehra Committes i.e Thalora Mandi, Kehli Mandi, Vijaypur and Bari-Brahmna.
The District Traffic Police was asked to deploy adequate manpower to regulate the traffic at vulnerable points.
Similarly, the ARTO Samba was given the responsibility to ensure adequate number of buses/mini buses to avoid overloading during these days.
